Are your thoughts drifting towards summer vacation instead of what to write for your next email marketing newsletter? SimplyCast is here to save the day with some May email marketing calendar ideas! May is looking like a month to celebrate people and things in our life. From Mothers Day to International Nurses Day to National BBQ month, the content ideas run the full gamut, so get creative!
Below is a list of real holidays, wacky holidays, sporting events and pop culture events in May that you can create timely and relevant email marketing campaigns around.
May 5th - Cinco De Mayo
Spanish for "fifth of May", Cinco De Mayo is a regional holiday in Mexico. The date is observed in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. This has fun written all over it, and if you know that a large portion of your subscriber base is of Mexican descent, even better.
May 6th - International No Diet Day
International No Diet Day is an annual celebration of body acceptance and body shape diversity. This might not work out so well for those promoting fitness and diet products but at the same time, it can be a real seller if done right.
May 9th - Mothers Day
This is the big day of the month for email marketers. If you have not started targeting all those sons and daughters out there, you better get to it. Now is as good of a time as ever to start getting your marketing campaigns aligned and in tune with this big retail event. You can help shoppers with gift suggestions, appeal to last-minute shoppers with "final days" offers, and make it all very easy with special shipping and delivery incentives.
May 12th - International Nurses Day
International Nurses Day is celebrated to remember all of the valuable contributions nurses make to society. For those of us who have had to spend any time in a hospital, you know how important the nurses are. They make you feel better, they tend to all your needs, and they do it with a smile. This is a great time to share some goodwill towards your list of subscribers and maybe even give back to the community.
May 24th - Victoria Day
SimplyCast is located in Nova Scotia, Canada, so we all know what Victoria Day is about. Long weekend, cottages, BBQ, relaxation, camping, and enjoying the unofficial start of summer. If you have a product or service that can tap into the frenzy of warmer weather in Canada, it is the perfect backdrop. Remember, most Canadians will be off for the day so there is no point sending them any mailings until Tuesday morning.
May 31st - Memorial Day
Much of the same can be said that was mentioned for Victoria Day, except now you can put an American spin on it. Images of blowout sales, fireworks and plenty of patriotic specials come to mind. American holidays just seem to warrant going big, so try to see what you can offer to your subscribers that will wow them and cause a big response. Just like with Canada's big holiday, a lot of people won't be at work on this day, so keep that in mind for sending schedules.
