Surgery Reminder Process

Hospitals and other medical institutions often find themselves having to make use of manual outreach methods to verify that patients are prepared for upcoming surgeries.

A digital solution that makes use of a straightforward process can improve how reminders for surgeries are sent and allow for recovery and rehabilitation plans to be built-in automatically as well.

SimplyCast presents the idea of the Surgery Reminders use case, a complete solution designed to be customized to fit the needs of every type of surgery.

The solution is intended to be deployed by hospital administration to be used by staff to help streamline the surgery communication process.

The Surgery Reminders Process

SimplyCast anticipated the need for medical institutions to have an effective, streamlined process for managing surgery-related communications.

After an initial communication plan for a given surgery is set up, medical secretaries would have two steps to follow and patients would have three.

Secretaries – Step 1

Secretaries would start the digital process by entering a patient’s surgery details and contact information into a digital form, creating a secure digital record of that patient and the surgery within a central database.

Patients – Step 1

Ahead of the surgery, patients receive a reminder and respond to confirm that they have received the reminder and are proceeding as instructed.

Secretaries – Step 2

Should a patient not respond within a set period of time, a secretary is notified to facilitate a manual follow-up.

Patients – Step 2

Once the patient has confirmed they are prepared for the surgery, they can be sent a form where they confirm that they will follow key pre-surgery instructions or submit any final required information.

Patients – Step 3

After the surgery, instructions and any additional rehabilitation-related messages are received by the patient as those instructions and messages become relevant within the aftercare process.
