The world is still reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizations, businesses, and offices across all verticals have been stalled or shifted to unusual operations in order to protect communities and limit the spread of this deadly disease.

Some organizations had the option of work from home; some, as essential services, needed to stay open with restructured operations; and some were completely stopped due to the outbreak. Regardless of the situation for any organization, it is time to begin thinking about how to return to normal operations.

Returning to normal operations may mean many different things: reopening offices and physical locations, calling employees back to work, rescheduling appointments with clients or patients, or even just rolling back the extra precautions that were put in place. The common, underlying thread that all these items have is communication.

And, although the pandemic is still ongoing, it is not too early to begin planning for what this return means for your organization.

Essentially, there are three stages organizations should consider when planning their COVID-19 recovery strategy: initial communication with stakeholders, commencement and transition to regular operations, and opportunity for operational improvements. This document will look at these stages that any organization should consider when planning its responsible recovery and return to operations. Of course, all suggested stages should be done in line with governmental suggestions and requirements for your jurisdiction in such a way that risk is minimized to your organization, your employees, and your community.
