Only one email is sent to each recipient; however, this email contains both versions of the message. Even though both versions are included in the email, only one version would be displayed at a time. The HTML version is given preference if an email program can view both HTML and Text. If the email program cannot view HTML (or HTML is disabled), then the text version is shown instead.
If you need to send text and HTML versions of email, try SimplyCast's email marketing tool for yourself. Sign up for a free 14-day trial today!
