Text messaging has been steadily creeping upwards in popularity as the method of choice to contact consumers. Here's how to send a mass text message using SimplyCast's SMS channel to a small or large number of contacts.
Step 1. Ensure you have contacts in CRM
First things first. When using mass texting software, you need to ensure you have a list of contacts that you are able to send your text message to. SimplyCast stores all of your contacts in its built-in CRM so you are easily able to segment them into lists to send messages to. Keep in mind that you must only send your texts to contacts you have opted in to receive messages using this method in order to comply with anti-spam regulations.
Step 2. Create text content
Once you have made sure you have a viable list of contacts to send out your mass text to, proceed to the SMS tool in the SimplyCast application. You can begin entering the content of your text message, keeping an eye on the character counter as you go. Text messages are reserved to 140 characters – any longer than that then multiple messages will have to be sent to contacts.
Step 3. Choose contacts to receive text
After you have your mass text message content squared away, you will be asked to choose which contacts you would like to send the SMS to. Here is where you will choose the list of contacts in your CRM that have opted in to receiving SMS messages from you. You can also add additional contacts individually and via several other methods as well to round out your sending list.
Step 4. Schedule your mass text
Finally, all you have left to do is schedule when you would like to send your mass text out to your chosen contacts. You may choose to send out the text message immediately or schedule it a few days in the future, if the message isn't urgent. The beauty of being able to schedule your mass texts in advance is that when the sending date and time comes, your text message will be blasted out to your contacts automatically, without you having to remember to perform any other action.
Step 5. View reports
When your mass text has been sent out to all your contacts, you can now go into the Reporting section of the SimplyCast application and view the easy-to-read report for your SMS message. Here, you are able to view how many text messages were sent out as well as how many failed to send. Reports are also downloadable to your device.
