Digital Contact Tracing Solution: Who Does What

Digital Contact Tracing Solution

Contact tracing is one of the primary ways that public health tracks and manages outbreaks of COVID-19. A flexible process that handles the key steps can turn what is normally a lengthy challenge into a quick resolution. This can also mean the difference between a large outbreak and a small flare-up.

A digital solution that allows organizations to trace contacts discreetly and with minimal need for input from any party is ideal. Such a solution sounds like it would be difficult to implement, right? It’s easier than you might think.

SimplyCast presents the idea of the Contact Tracing use case, a complete solution for tracing contacts on site, and storing their information to provide public health if you need to.

This solution can be leveraged by organizations to minimize the time and organization required to determine who was on site and when. Collecting this information manually could require a staff member working on nothing else on busy days. Here’s how each person involved would engage with the solution.

Breaking down the contact tracing process

SimplyCast anticipated the need for organizations to collect contact information from everyone on the premises at a given time. We know that contact tracing can be difficult to manage, but this digital solution aims to reduce these difficulties and provide a quick and secure process.

Within this digital contact tracing process, administrators, employees, and visitors all play a specific role.

Administrators – Step 1

Administrators begin the process by setting up an SMS shortcode and building out the web form.

Employees – Step 1

When an employee greets a guest, they provide them with the shortcode information and/or the QR code so they can submit their information for contact tracing purposes.

Visitors – Step 1

By texting to the shortcode or filling out the web form, the visitor’s data is recorded and saved in the central database automatically.

Administrators – Step 2

If there is an exposure and people need to be notified, then the administrator will have all the information complete with timestamps to provide to public health. This will help narrow down those visitors who need testing, avoid further potential exposures, and allow the business to maintain a good relationship with the public. They can set up an alert, or have public health notify the exposed visitors depending on policy requirements.
