This week we will be taking a look at our downloadable Marketing Plan Example Template. This is a document that organizations can download and fill out to assist them with creating their own marketing plans. This marketing plan template is designed to be generic, containing sections that would most likely apply to all sorts of different organization types. Organizations are encouraged to take this template and modify it as needed in order to best suit their needs.

Here is an overview of some of the sections available in the Marketing Plan Example Template.

Company Profile

The Company Profile section in the marketing plan template is a key section where an organization can outline some important details about their vision, mission, and other relevant information.

Vision: What does your organization hope to achieve in the long term? Provide a high-level statement about the future goals of your organization that can be used as a driving force behind any decisions and actions that you take.

Mission: What is your organization setting out to accomplish? An organization’s mission is essentially its purpose – why it exists in the first place.

Relevant Information: This section in the marketing plan template is where you can add other information regarding your organization, such as an overview of your products or services, your targeted demographic, the market size, etc.

Situation Analysis (SWOT)

The Situation Analysis section in the marketing plan template can be very helpful when doing an internal review within an organization. Standing for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, a SWOT analysis can be conducted either by an individual within an organization or it can be done as a group at a company meeting to gather as many different perspectives as possible.

By knowing what your organization’s strengths and weaknesses are, it can give you a sense of where you need to focus more of your efforts in the future in order to turn your weaknesses into strengths while making sure to continue doing whatever it is you’re currently doing right!

Marketing Strategy: Channels

This section of the marketing plan template example is used to help your organization identify which channels, both traditional and digital, you will be focusing on for your marketing efforts. Traditional channels may include television advertisements, posters, brochures, conferences, and more – while digital channels may include email blasts, SMS campaigns, customer nurturing campaigns, automated voice calls, and the like.

It is smart to consider a combination of both traditional and digital marketing channels in order to ensure you are reaching all the different demographics you wish to target. Focusing on just one or the other means that you will definitely be missing out on some potential revenue.

This marketing plan template provides you with space to detail which channels you will be using; how you are planning to use them; and what steps you will be taking in order to implement them.

Marketing Strategy: Budgeting

Once you have outlined which marketing channels you will be using in your organization’s marketing plan and how you plan on implementing them, it is also essential to allocate your marketing budgets appropriately. The Budgeting section in the marketing plan template is where you can identify how much money you plan to allot to the use of each marketing channel, how the money will be spent, plus your total marketing expenses you expect to incur.

Some organizations may have more funds to work with than others, but that does not mean that they are any less able to market their organization effectively. There are many free marketing options available to organizations that can be just as effective as paid options. For example, SEO optimization is a great way to ensure your organization’s content is being seen by Google searchers, and of course we can’t forget the power of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Regardless, it is always important to know exactly how much money you are able to spend on your marketing in order to ensure you don’t overspend and that you can properly achieve a good return on your investments.
