What is the difference between email delivery and email deliverability?
Email delivery is when (and if) an email recipient accepts your email. Essentially, email delivery means whether or not your email can be accepted.
Email deliverability refers to where your email ends up once it's accepted: inbox, spam, or another folder.
How can I improve my email deliverability?
There are several things you can do to improve your email deliverability. The first thing is to monitor your IP address to make sure it hasn't been blacklisted, thus damaging your reputation and affecting your deliverability. Also, you can send occasional re-opt-ins to make sure your current list of contacts is engaged and still wishes to receive communications from you.
What are hard bounces and soft bounces?
Bounced emails are addresses that could not be delivered to successfully. There are two types of bounced emails: hard bounces and soft bounces.
A hard bounce occurs when an email address is rejected outright. This happens if the recipient's email address or domain no longer exists.
A soft bounce occurs when an email address is rejected for a temporary reason, such as the email box being full.
The difference between hard and soft bounces is that hard bounces are flagged in your mailing list and added to the email suppression list whereas soft bounces are not because the issue is temporary. However, if an email address soft bounces five times it will be flagged as hard bounced.
